Comrades,
This
association is very happy to note that an initiative has been undertaken to strengthen
the unity of all group A, B and C associations of the department to fight
against the likely consequences of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime.
This association has always been an active partner of the Steering Committee of
Joint Action Forum, constituted sometime back, to pursue the HR issues in the
light of the reorganization of the department, post GST. A meeting was
hurriedly convened in CR building, New Delhi on 25th Jan 2017 where our representative of Delhi
unit was also invited. Although our
association was not informed in advance, we authorized our representative to
join the meeting and strengthen the unity as GST is a cause, which will impact
everybody across the board. We have been briefed about the outcome and the
decision of the meeting to undertake the following agitational programme:
i)
No Customs Day celebration on 27th January 2017 at any place.
ii)
Observing Black Day by wearing Black Badges on 30th January 2017 on Martyrs day.
It
is felt, that a detail discussion at all India level is necessary before
launching full-fledged agitational programme. This association is in touch with
all other associations to strengthen the umbrella association in CBEC. We are
also in touch with IRS (C&CE) association and keeping all options open. At
the moment, it has been decided in consultation with President and other office
bearers of this association that the zonal units should observe the programme
as mentioned at sl. no. (i) above, with consultation with the leaders of all
other associations. Further course of action will be intimated as and when it
is decided after thorough discussion.
